My Story

In 1999, my 70 year old mother came down with a soft ball sized Uterine Fibroid. I was reading "What your Doctor May Not Tell You about Menopause" by John Lee, MD. He wrote that giving progesterone cream to some women with Uterine Fibroids made their Fibroids disappear. I bought the recommended progesterone cream and gave it to my mom. In one month, her Uterine Fibroid actually got BIGGER, not SMALLER. Well, this is not what I wanted or expected. So, I called the Progesterone Cream company and asked them why the Uterine Fibroid got BIGGER. They answered, "Oh, that's easy. We put Rosemary in the progesterone cream for hot flashes. Rosemary is a Phytoestrogen."  WHAT???? I didn't learn that in Medical School. The Rosemary acted like an estrogen and made her Fibroid BIGGER. I switched Progesterone Cream brands and my mother's Uterine Fibroid disappeared. Her OB/GYN could not believe it. This event started me on the path to investigate Xenoestrogens.
